Goin' to the zoo, zoo, zoo, how 'bout you, you, you. . .

Today the kids and I drove out to Oakland to meet up at the zoo with Tini and Becah. We had a loverly time.

Becah wins the MacGuyver Award for cutting up a pantiliner to cushion Ruby's shoe straps when they started rubbing on her foot the wrong way. They stayed put after the band-aids we got from a day camp group wore off, and she was fine for the rest of the day. Next time, everyone wears sneakers with socks.

Tini wins the Poor Spatial Judgement Award for thinking that Becah, Squig and I could all fit comfortably in the sky tram seat. We didn't. We're hippy. Looking at them sitting comfortably behind us, the seat with Tini, Sam and Ruby had enough room for another Ruby. Poo. If only we'd stayed with Becah's suggestion that the tram seat with two adults would also have the smallest kid. . .

We did manage to pop ourselves out in barely enough time to not get run over by the seat as it went by. But just barely, the attendant warned us to move faster or we'd get hit.

We'll have to go back sometime so the kids can just run around and climb on things, since that seems to be what they really, really wanted to do. At one point, one of the kids even said they'd rather play on the fun stuff instead of looking at the "boring" animals. What??? They have African elephants! Three of them! That's the best thing at a zoo. Sheesh.

Anyway, we went to the zoo and had a nice day. We took a couple of pictures, but I'm not entirely sure where my camera is right now. Maybe I'll save that for tomorrow's post.
