Super Helper Bizzy

Today I started helping out at the school. I helped at one of the learning centers in Ruby's class (the shape of the week is the circle, and we made caterpillars out of circles and I had to help them put them in rainbow order) and helped Sam's teacher grade and sort math tests.

I wish there was something more exciting than that to tell about, but really, there isn't. I'm hoping that the county will start taking applications for substitute teachers again in September. The employment website says that applications are closed right now, but to check back Sept. 1st. Working for the school is a good idea because the schedule correlates with my kids' schedule (can't sub if the kids aren't there!!!) and I could limit it while Ruby is in kindergarten and still be on the rolls when she goes full-day next year in first grade. Plus, there's the flexibility of being able to say no if I need to.

I just need them to open up applications again so I can get in. Then I can deal with the issue of whether or not any of the teachers would call on me! I'm hoping that all my many years of service to the school and in their classes would help me be a desirable candidate even though I don't have a teaching credential (or experience, but I'm the sub, not the lesson-planner!)

I guess we just wait and see what happens in September!
