Puerto Rico--Day 6

Today didn’t have a lot of exciting things to write about. John’s parents are going home Saturday, so they came over to our place and while we did laundry, we had lunch, looked at our pictures from yesterday and just visited. And then we went to San Juan for dinner and had the best basil ice cream ever in the world. They served a little tiny scoop on top of a pineapple tart, and we loved it so much we asked for a bowl of it.

Here are John and his parents at dinner:

We did see a car accident today! I knew they had to have them around somewhere with the way people drive around here.

And I keep forgetting to mention that we’ve noticed that they seem to be huge fans of Chinese food here. There are Chinese restaurants everywhere! Even the smallest towns have a Chinese restaurant. We stopped to get gas in a small town between here and San Juan and there were two just across the street from the gas station.

Speaking of gas stations, they sell gas by the liter here. It’s about $0.90, which is cheaper than it was in California when we left. Road markers are in kilometers, exits (salidas) are marked by kilometers, distances on road signs are in kilometers, but the speed limit (velocidad maxima) is marked in miles per hour.
